Spring Newsletter '25

Greetings!

Spring is teasing us here in Homer, Alaska. As the light has returned, the temperatures have been warm, awakening visions of the summer season ahead. It keeps on snowing though…I had 10 inches of snow on my new Pushki shoots the other day and they were unfazed.

Similarly, we Alaskans can take it!

It’s a good time to lock in your place on the spring schedule and position any contractors or help for spring set-ups! We still have ship dates available in May, and June is pretty open for new builds.

Here at the Nomad Shelter shop, we are changing things up significantly!

Construction of our new 30 ft office yurt is progressing well. We started the floor last week, and components were made over the winter. The new office/sales yurt, scheduled for installation this spring, includes an employee bathroom and showcases many window and door features that people have had questions about. We are looking forward to this newly upgraded demo for our office space! Finished pictures will be included in the next newsletter.

Linked to this project is the sale of our current 18 ft diameter office yurt (pictured) at an enticing discount. This is a unique yurt with a full insulation package and three polyvinyl windows, and includes the sub floor! Call us for pricing at 907-299-3221.

We are also nearing completion on our 60 ft shop yurt! The top cover will be welded in place this spring and all of our wood components will then move into this new space. We are also changing the eve design from sewn to hand welded. We will have pictures of the initial prototypes in the next newsletter, so stay tuned.

Changes are fun! We are looking forward to our new spaces.

Need some extra income this summer? We still have four Lease-to-Own yurts left to place, available to Alaska residents only at this time.

Here’s how it works:

Have our crew install 16 ft yurts on your property with an investment of $5K down and $408/month per yurt. Then you can rent them out nightly or in whatever way works best for you. We will add your rentals to the map on our Alaskan Yurt Rentals website. A link will connect customers directly to your rental site!

This is the passive income you are envisioning…it’s tried and true. Alaskan Yurt Rental Company LLC has been renting yurts in Kachemak Bay State Park since 2002.

Most in-town or road accessible yurts command around $100/night as a dry rental with an outhouse. Additionally, these 16 ft diameter, heavy insulated yurts rent during the winter in Homer for $500-$600 a month and up. They are warm, secure shelters for simple living through even the harshest winters.

We have four 16 ft Lease To Own yurts left now to place in this run, so call today to get in the queue!

You can help temporary workers that need summer housing, offer year-round local housing, or provide a unique space for your own family guests. Investment in a Nomad Shelter Alaskan Yurt does not lose value. It is an investment that gains value. When plans change, sell your used yurt close to what you paid for it, if not at the original full price (due to inflation).

Yurts are also a great way to try out a new business or expansion idea. Call to schedule your build, and watch our crew set your yurts up this spring. Be ready for the coming tourist season!

Here at Nomad Shelter, we are scheduling our 2025 production season NOW, and we are looking forward to helping you make your new vision a reality. Call us for pricing and estimates, and to discuss the nuances of your project. Alex, Jess, and Lee are always ready to answer questions and get your project moving.

Happy spring from all of us here at Nomad Shelter!
